During the Mobile World Congress (MWC), Huawei Spain and the Barcelona City Council have signed a collaboration agreement to develop innovation and training activities in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). This agreement reinforces the commitment of both entities with the digitalization of the company and establishes the bases for joint projects in key areas such as smart Cities, Smart Buildings, connectivity, green energy and ICT platforms.

The training initiatives will have the support of the Huawei Spain Academy, the first institution of this type in Europe, recently created to enhance talent and digital skills in Spain. These activities will be developed within the framework of the IT Academy of Barcelona Activa, an advanced technological training center with experience in the training of students in programming and Big Data.

The act of signature and presentation of the agreement was attended by prominent personalities of both entities. On the part of Huawei, Lei Chen, Huawei’s vice president attended; Li Junfeng, vice president of the company and president of the global public sector; Andrés Yin Hui, CEO of Huawei Iberia; and Jack He Liang, General Director of Huawei Iberia Enterprise Business.

On behalf of the Barcelona City Council, the mayor of the city, Jaume Collboni; the deputy mayor of Economy, Finance, Economic Promotion and Tourism, Jordi Valls; the municipal manager, Laia Claverol; the Manager of the Area of ​​Economy and Economic Promotion, Antoni Fernández; the Economic Promotion Manager, Miquel Rodríguez; and the director of the Municipal Institute of Computer Science, Emili Rubió.
