D-Link has presented D-Link Nuclias Unity, its new enterprise network management platform from the cloud, designed to offer centralized, agile and much more efficient control of any network infrastructure, regardless of its size or location.
Network infrastructure has become one of the pillars of any business activity. Cloud applications, mobility, AI, IoT devices and a growing number of connected users and equipment make business networks increasingly distributed and complex, also requiring almost continuous scalability and robust security. Added to this evolution is another challenge: many organizations continue to manage the Wi-Fi infrastructure and the wired network separately, using different tools and individually configuring the equipment deployed in each location. The result can be a greater burden on the IT department in network installation and administration tasks, at the same time as less global visibility and more possibilities of inconsistent configurations appearing, many of which can cause a very negative service interruption in several areas.
D-Link Nuclias Unity takes a different approach: unifying all business networks of any size in the cloud; from the initial installation with already pre-configured devices, to End-to-End network administration, through a single Single Sign On web portal, with multi-site and multi-tenant capacity. The platform has been designed to provide a global vision of one or several infrastructures to facilitate both the management of a single network and the administration of organizations with multiple branches, buildings or even clients, in the case of IT companies that, in addition to installing the equipment, can offer remote management of their clients’ networks, a common situation in SMEs that do not have an IT department.
Lower network complexity
The main proposition of Nuclias Unity is not simply to move an administration interface to the Internet. Its value lies in turning multiple switches, access points, and locations into an infrastructure that can be observed and managed as a whole.
Key Features of D-Link Nuclias Unity
· Centralized Cloud Management: configuration, monitoring and access to the administration of D-Link routers, switches and Wi-Fi access points from a single SSO web portal.
· Multi-site and multi-tenant architecture: different organizations, clients, branches or locations can be managed from the same platform while maintaining their logical separation.
· Supports D-Link’s current ranges of enterprise routers from the DBR range, indoor/outdoor/wall plate Wi-Fi access points from the DAP ranges, and managed switches, from the Smart range to Enterprise Managed L3 with physical stacking. Future updates will include access to the range of professional video surveillance, with multiple models of network cameras and video recorders.
· Zero-Touch Provisioning Installation: Devices can automatically receive previously defined profiles and configurations when connecting to a network with Internet access. Additionally, it is possible to provision multiple devices from the Nuclias Unity app for iOS/Android, making large deployments easier.
· Remote monitoring and diagnosis: visualization of network topology, bandwidth monitoring on each switch or access points, device status, port identification, Power Over Ethernet (PoE) energy level information, etc.
· Advanced segmentation: support for multiple SSIDs, VLANs in both LAN and WLAN, port profiles and access control lists.
· Management of guests or public areas: access through customizable captive portals, traffic segmentation and bandwidth limitation possibilities.
The platform allows multiple devices to be provisioned from the Nuclias Unity app
· Wi-Fi coverage planning: integration of Wi-Fi Planner Pro, a tool to design WI-Fi coverage studies on real plans.
· Alerts and analysis: proactive monitoring, information on events and tools intended to facilitate the identification of anomalies and resolution of incidents.
· AI Insight: an extra module that includes a series of functions for more detailed analytics designed for large corporations that want a more advanced level of reporting. It is currently offered for free and will soon be paid for, while the rest of the functions of Nuclias Unity, the usual corporate networks, are free.
