Amazon Web Services (AWS) today announced the expansion of its collaboration with Workday to develop generative AI capabilities to innovate and create new experiences for its customers. Additionally, they will work on initiatives aimed at accelerating customer adoption of cloud solutions.
This collaboration will help increase productivity, promote talent growth and retention, as well as optimize business processes.
“This expanded collaboration combines the power of Workday AI and AWS to deliver new AI capabilities to our customers faster and more efficiently,” said Shane Luke, vice president of Product and Engineering and head of AI and ML at Workday. “Workday AI is focused on delivering value to our customers through enterprise data from Workday platform applications. Now, with AWS, we can focus directly on this goal, while leveraging the tools and services it provides for model management and operations.”
Developing Tools with Generative AI
By integrating AI directly into its platform, Workday leverages AWS technologies like Amazon Bedrock and Amazon SageMaker JumpStart to build generative AI capabilities that make it easier to manage financial and workforce resources.
For example, using AWS generative AI, Workday enables customers to write job descriptions in minutes instead of hours, review and revise contracts for more accurate revenue reporting, and highlight individual employee achievements in a personalized way.
Companies are developing new generative AI capabilities, simplifying the developing custom applications and strengthening their collaboration to launch new products to the market
Additionally, Workday is collaborating with the AWS Generative AI Innovation Center to explore new generative AI applications and identify emerging use cases. This collaboration has led Workday to increase its use of Amazon SageMaker to optimize the performance of large language models (LLMs), as well as implement responsible AI policies and safeguards, assessing the viability of generative AI applications in production environments.
Increase in Native Integrations
Workday is enhancing the native integration of its applications with AWS to make it easier for Workday developers and customers to adopt AWS technologies and build custom applications. Customers can now use data hosted on the Workday platform along with AWS technologies such as AWS Lambda, Amazon EventBridge, Amazon Comprehend, Amazon S3, Amazon Textract, and Amazon Translate in Workday Extend, enabling the development of custom applications for finance and HR processes in a secure and scalable manner.
This deeper integration aims to improve the developer experience, create custom applications that reduce operational costs, and respond effectively to unforeseen demand spikes and resource disruptions.
Expanding Sales Collaboration
Under their expanded partnership, Workday and AWS will dedicate resources and efforts to joint sales and go-to-market initiatives. These efforts will facilitate new customer acquisition for Workday and increase visibility in the AWS Marketplace. They will also benefit Workday customers using AWS by enabling them to deploy preconfigured Workday solutions.
Using Workday on AWS will provide Workday customers with near-zero downtime maintenance windows, helping them comply with local data storage regulations and other regulatory requirements.
