The data of the ICT Monitor barometer, prepared by VASS Foundation and the CEPREDE ECONFUL PREDICTIONS Center, certify a 2024 exercise closure for the digital services sector (subsector 62 of the CNAE) with a rhythm of expansion of +5.3% in real terms, discounting the effect of prices.

Despite being below the previous two years, clearly expansive ( +12.1% in 2022 and +7.6% in 2023), this activity segment continues to show extraordinary solidity for the current situation, reaffirming as one of the most dynamics of the Spanish economy, which grew to +3.1%. In nominal terms, the billing of companies averaged a growth of +8.9% throughout 2024, with an interannual expansion in December (compared to the same month of 2023) of +7.2%.
This solid dynamic, according to the expectations of Spanish entrepreneurs, will remain in the first four -month period of 2025. Two out of three companies trust to continue growing, which makes them twice as optimistic as their community counterparts. The balance between those who foresee billing growth until April and those who anticipate a contraction favor the former, with 66.3% of cases.
Digital service companies double the growth of the Spanish economy in 2024
“While it is true that the incorporation of talent maintains an increasingly modest growth trend, the reality is that the expansion does not cease. The sector has gone from 315 thousand affiliates in 2019 to 468 thousand, on average, for 2024. There are more than 153 thousand new troops in five years, ”says Antonio Rueda, director of the VASS Foundation and head of the ICT Monitor.
Cooling in job creation
The trend in terms of job creation, however, continues its cooling, with an interannual growth (December 2024) of 2.1% and an annual average of +3.3%. Since 2022, the hiring rhythm has been shortening a percentage point per year. The short -term work climate indicator, which reaches in January 2025 a +9.8 score in a range of -100 to +100, shows an almost total balance between optimistic and pessimistic companies in this regard ..
Perspectives Digital Services 2025
The social security affiliate base assigned to the digital sector beats its record again in January 2025, reaching 492,736 people and leaving the barrier of half a million at hand. Of 87 activities, digital services are the sixth that has created the most employment.
The report also emphasizes that, despite the slowdown in job creation, the digital services sector remains a key engine for the Spanish economy. Companies in the sector continue to invest in innovation and development, which allows them to maintain their competitiveness and continue to grow in a challenging economic environment.
