This Thursday, September 25, the act of delivery of the traditional Byte Ti 2025 awards will take place, an essential event in the calendar of the National Technological Sector that every year recognizes the talent, innovation and excellence of companies, managers and projects linked to the world of ICT. In this edition, just over a hundred projects have been presented in the category of “Best CIO”, which shows the growing relevance of this figure in the digital transformation process of all types of organizations. The amplitude and diversity of the projects received, as well as the quality of their execution, made practically all of them deserving of entering the final stretch, which turned the selection into a particularly complex and demanding task.
The jury, composed of the members of the drafting and regular collaborators of the magazine Byte Ti, has valued not only the technical achievements of the projects, but also their impact on the organization, the leadership capacity shown and the degree of innovation provided in each initiative. Finally, the decision to select these five finalist projects has been made. Among them is the future winner, which will be announced and publicly recognized during the same awards ceremony, turning this act into one of the culminating moments of the day and on the ideal occasion to value the strategic role of the CIO in the development of the digital ecosystem.

Beatriz de la Cruz, IT director of Verdecora.
In Verdecora they are immersed in a deep technological transformation led by the IT department, with key projects both in the field of systems and in cybersecurity. From the systems and business area, the most ambitious project began to date: the implementation of a new ERP, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, which covers not only the central management processes, but also the renewal of TPV and the incorporation of mobility tools for equipment in store and logistics, with the aim of gaining efficiency, traceability and operational agility in all channels. The digitalization project has been accompanied by a reinforcement of cybersecurity with the implementation of an EDR solution and the incorporation of a SOC service to monitor and respond proactively to threats. Both initiatives reflect the company’s commitment to innovation, security and continuous improvement, placing technology as a key lever in the evolution of Verdecora.

Javier Mallo, Cio de Carrefour
Mallo has directed in the last year the implementation of a series of innovative projects that combine the strategic application of artificial intelligence with a deep modernization of data infrastructure, generating a significant impact on operational efficiency, customer experience and business profitability. Carrefour Spain has undertaken an ambitious digital transformation, recognizing the fundamental value of the data as a strategic asset. This vision is materialized in two main pillars: the application of artificial intelligence to optimize key business processes and the creation of a modern and robust data platform called «New Data». The implementation of IA -based solutions has been fundamental to improve decision -making and optimize efficiency in various areas. Among other facets of the projects, a system of prediction of shortage in stores based on AI has developed. Likewise, proactive actions for customer retention have been implemented, a product recommender for electronic commerce that customizes the online purchase experience, and a chatbot for customer service call center (IVR) that automates telephone interactions, improving availability and reducing operational costs. In addition, the implementation of a chatbot for the supply chain is being explored to centralize the information of the logistics platforms, with the aim of expediting management and improving operational efficiency. The key to the success of these IA initiatives lies in the availability of high quality data and the ability to process them efficiently.

Vanessa Escáá, Mapfre Global Cio
Escáá enters the category of “Best CIO” thanks to the innovative Reef Project. This is not limited only to a specific technological platform, but constitutes a whole strategic project that acts as the company’s new core, allowing it to optimize internal processes, boost innovation in all its operational areas and guarantee a more agile service, efficient and adapted to market needs. Reef is conceived as a complete, totally safe, integral, modular and scalable ecosystem, which offers response to the challenges present and those that may arise in the future within Mapfre, considered one of the main world insurance groups. Thanks to its implementation, the company has achieved greater autonomy and agility both in creation and in the operation and implementation of new products, at the same time improving connectivity, interoperability and self -service solutions available for its customers.

Juan Luis Cruz Bermúdez, Director of Digital Transformation of the October 12 Hospital
The H12O, within the framework of its transformation strategy, has made the construction of a new hospitalization building in record time, starting the works in 2021 and ending them in 2023, being the largest European health work in that period. During 2024, the hospital was prepared and a move was performed in which 620 patients admitted with a very high satisfaction by patients, family and professionals were transferred. ICT had a key role, both to enable the new building with the best technology, guarantee the continuity of assistance and to monitor the entire process in real time. The project required very precise planning and thorough control in its development to finally achieve the objective of opening and moving to a new digital hospital without incident. This line of action has culminated in the construction and opening in record time of the most advanced hospital in Spain, combining the execution of large ICT projects (network renewal, systems migration, equipment modernization, deployment of digital services) with the design of own methodologies that have allowed to integrate clinical professionals in the identification of needs and solutions. All this has been carried out from a public hospital, with limited resources and structural conditions, but with a team capable of attracting talent and competitive financing.

Virginia Vera Jiménez, Cio de Fritravich
Butterfly is much more than a transformation project: it is the active reflection of Fritravich’s purpose: “We feed moments of life.” This vision drives the transformation without leaving anyone behind, using technology as an ally for people to develop skills and adapt to changes, contributing to business. The transformation is articulated in five strategic axes: culture, customer and consumer experience, value chain, data and innovation, all with associated projects. From the beginning, technology has been a key lever to display initiatives that accompany and accelerate change. In culture, the implantation of the complete SUCCESSFactors suite of SAP allows us to accompany people throughout their employee Journey, our “talent trip.” In customer and consumer experience, Fritsals converts sales force into trusted advisors, while the customer app reinforces the omnichannel strategy with closer and more personalized relationships. The value chain is strengthened with the SCADA system, which raises efficiency and quality, while the implementation of RPA in Customer Service and Logistics release the team to focus on improving the experience. All projects are developed collaboratively with OKR Methodology, not to “make Agile”, but to agilely manage the entire organization. Thus the Frit Way is born: an ecosystem of self -organized equipment that drives an innovative and sustainable business model.
