Managing the cybersecurity of the real world means managing hybrid networks that combine traditional on-premises environments with solutions in the cloud and firewall as a service (FWAAS). Many suppliers that offer Sase solutions overlook the importance of integrated local environments, which reduces the value of implementing a Sase solution. When a Sase solution does not take these environments into account, they end up creating isolated systems that are managed separately, which leads to an unnecessary increase in complexity and operational costs.

To solve this problem, Watchguard Technologies has announced the launch of Firecloud Internet Access, the first of a new family of hybrid products of Secure Access Service Edge (Sase) that offer a consistent experience between FireBoxes and Firecloud, with practically identical configurations and without learning curve.

«Firecloud Internet Access provides real security in the face of real world challenges to which today’s businesses face. With the evolution of remote and distributed work, and the migration of companies to the cloud, the attack surface and the location of the endpoints that need protection have expanded, ”says Andrew Young, Chief Product Officer of Watchguard.

Firecloud Internet Access: Sase, Cloud and On-Premises

The difference in Firecloud Internet Access is that, in addition to being specifically designed for cloud hybrid environments/on-premises, Firecloud Internet Access is characterized by its ease of deployment, a licensing model and flexible and scalable prices, and its integration into the Watchguard threat detection and response platform:

  • Designed for hybrid environments. Watchguard Sase architecture is one of the few solutions that really provides value and benefits to a hybrid environment. For IT teams with limited resources or MSP, this approach facilitates management, guarantees consistent security controls and reduces costs compared to other Sase solutions.
  • Ease of deployment. Administrators can configure and apply security policies from a single interface, which simplifies management through coherent policy and terminology structures. Security settings are automatically implemented at all points of presence (POPS) of Watchguard worldwide, guaranteeing a uniform application of policies regardless of the user’s location. Firecloud customers are delivered from Watchguard Cloud, which facilitates its implementation and management.
  • Flexibility and scalability. The flexpay flexpay flexible price model allows managed security services (MSSP) suppliers to grow their business profitably. As Firewall-As-A-Service, the performance is not affected by the number of users, and licenses can easily be added as customers expand their operations.
