With the accelerated integration of AI technologies in businesses, a significant increase in energy demand and the need for AI-optimized computing infrastructure is expected. According to the International Energy Agency, by 2026, the AI industry will consume at least ten times more electricity than in 2023.

To meet these challenges, IT managers and data center operators are implementing measures to reduce energy consumption, such as improving power efficiency and cooling systems.

Following this point, Hewlett Packard Enterprise and Danfoss have announced their collaboration in the launch of HPE IT Sustainability Services – Data Center Heat Recovery, a ready-to-use module that allows organizations to manage and take advantage of surplus heat, thus supporting the transition towards more sustainable IT facilities.

“Our strategic partnership with HPE is a great example of how we are revolutionizing the construction and decarbonization of the data center industry together with customers,” says Jürgen Fischer, President of Danfoss Climate Solutions. “With this latest cross-industry agreement, we are building the blueprint for the next generation of sustainable data centers, using technologies that are currently available.”

Energy consumption: Hewlett Packard Enterprise and Danfoss

To address these issues, HPE and Danfoss’ new energy-efficient solution includes:

  • HPE’s scalable Modular Data Center (MDC), which consists of high-density (kW/rack) and small-size containers that can be deployed virtually anywhere without the need for heavy infrastructure. These containers incorporate technologies such as direct liquid cooling, reducing total energy consumption by 20%.
  • Danfoss’ innovative solutions, offering modules to reuse excess heat from data centers, providing renewable heating both on-site and for residential and industrial buildings. In addition, Danfoss oil-free Turbocor compressors improve data center cooling efficiency by up to 30%.
