Within the framework of World SME Day, which is celebrated on May 12, Kingston Digital Technology Europe puts the focus on one of the main technological transformations that SMEs are experiencing: efficient data storage management.

The growing digitalization and the exponential increase in the information generated by organizations involve a major challenge for SMEs, especially with regard to cost control, security and operational agility. In this context, the hybrid storage model – which combines local infrastructure with cloud services – is presented as an effective, safe and scalable solution.

A model adapted to the real needs of SMEs

According to the report The Data Paradoxprepared by Forrester Consulting, 61% of Spanish companies acknowledge feeling over data management, while 59% fears that excess information can compromise their cybersecurity. Given this scenario, the hybrid proposal rises as an intermediate route that allows to balance performance, control and costs.

“Managing information efficiently is a challenge for companies, regardless of their size. And SMEs do not escape this reality. Hybrid storage allows you to maintain control over critical data and, at the same time, take advantage of the advantages of the cloud without incurring unnecessary costs,” says Jordi GarcĂa, Iberia Team Leader of Kingston.

Controlled costs, fast access and greater security

Among the main advantages that Kingston stands out of this mixed model, is the cost optimization. SMEs can maintain sensitive data on their own servers and delegate the management of the rest in the cloud, thus adjusting technological expenditure to their real needs and avoiding payment for infrautilized resources.

To this is added Agility in access: Preserving frequent use information improves response times and reduces latency in critical processes. For their part, less recurring data can be stored in the cloud to release resources.

The Security and regulatory compliance They also gain ground with this approach. When accommodating the most delicate data in local environments, the filtration risks are minimized and the fulfillment of regulations such as Dora or NIS2 are facilitated. Kingston also recalls the essential role of hybrid storage within the 3-2-1 backup strategy, and proposes its Ironkey units with hardware encryption as an ideal complement for additional offline protection.

Scalability and resilience, keys to growth

Another strong point is the flexible scalability: The hybrid model allows storage capacity to be expanded without the need for large initial investments. Thus, companies can adapt to demand peaks and grow sustainably without overloading their physical infrastructure.

Finally, the mixed approach also reinforces the business continuityguaranteeing access to data and their recovery even in the face of the local environment. This resilience is especially valuable for SMEs, many of which do not have great resources to face technological unforeseen events.
