One of the sections that tend to be cumbersome is video conferencing in meeting rooms. To solve this problem, Logitech has launched Logitech Extend, a simple BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) solution designed especially for meeting rooms. Its main advantage is that it has an intuitive design and easy implementation. In this way, the solution allows users to hold meetings from their laptops or mobile devices with a simple USB-C cable, eliminating the need for additional drivers or concerns about cross-platform compatibility.
Logitech’s idea with this new tool is to offer a greater number of flexible and practical solutions for video conferencing in meeting rooms. With Logitech Extend, users will be able to enter the room and start a meeting from their laptop or mobile device simply using a USB-C cable, allowing for a completely plug-and-play approach, without the need to install additional software or drivers.
Easy and hassle-free connection
This solution has been designed to simplify the process of connecting video conferences in meeting rooms as much as possible. By connecting a laptop or mobile device via the USB-C cable, users can share content or make video calls from their own device without worrying about compatibility with the room’s video conferencing system. This simplicity allows both employees and visitors to use their own devices without difficulties, facilitating integration into mixed and dynamic work environments.
Logitech’s idea with this new tool is to offer a greater number of flexible and practical solutions for videoconferencing rooms.
Logitech Extend is made up of two physical parts joined by a cable of up to 100 meters. This ensures that, regardless of the distance within the room, the video conferencing system can be used without complications, providing flexibility in the layout of the rooms and the location of participants.
Additionally, if the room is equipped with systems such as Microsoft Teams Rooms on Android or Zoom Rooms Appliances, Logitech Extend allows the room user to temporarily bypass the default system to use their own device. That is, instead of relying exclusively on the room configuration, they can connect their laptop and use both the camera and the screen for the video conference without changing the original room configuration.
Likewise, Logitech offers the option to add a USB-C power supply to the hub located on the table, providing up to 100W of power to charge laptops or phones while in the meeting room. This ensures that users’ devices continue to function if sessions run longer than expected.
Remote management with Logitech Sync
IT teams can monitor connectivity status and manage Logitech Extend updates through Logitech Sync, the company’s remote management solution. It also supports Zoom and Microsoft Teams device management, making it easy to integrate into Logitech-powered business environments.
Prices and availability
Logitech Extend will be available starting next November 2024 at a price of 949 euros, and can be purchased at Logitech.com and through authorized distributors.
