This year’s edition of the Smart Energy Congress, held on October 2 and 3 at the IFEMA north convention center, has concluded with resounding success, reaffirming its position as a key event in the digital and energy transformation in Spain. Organized by the enerTIC Platform, the congress brought together more than 1,700 attendees, exceeding by 21% the number of attendees on the first day of the previous edition. In its activities and spaces, experts and leaders from the energy, technology and innovation sectors have met, along with all stakeholders involved in the transformation processes, thus creating a space where open innovation, active collaboration and co-creation have been protagonists.
The “Twin Transition” has been a fundamental axis to analyze how technology and sustainability can be integrated to face current challenges in terms of energy efficiency, decarbonization and modernization of infrastructure. During two very dynamic days, with multiple sessions and activities, attendees have been able to learn first-hand how disruptive technologies such as artificial intelligence, computing in the edgethe digital twin and advanced data analytics, among others, are providing the necessary technological substrate for these evolution and improvement processes.
The inauguration of the congress had the institutional support of the Madrid City Council and the School of Industrial Organization, entities represented respectively by Mr. Ángel Niño, Delegate Councilor for the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Area of the Madrid City Council and Mr. José Bayón, General Director of EOI (School of Industrial Organization), leading institution among business schools in Spain.
Thematic Areas and activities
The congress was structured around four large areas: Industries & Mobility, IT Infrastructure & Data Center, eGovernment & Cities, and Energy & Utilities and all of them found ample development in the extensive and varied proposal of activities that were developed during the two days of the event. From the two large auditoriums, dedicated to strategy and technology respectively, to the very productive matchmnaking meetings, passing through the thematic rooms with sessions of great interest, the concentration of knowledge and collaboration have once again been the protagonists of SmartEnergyCongress.eu
One of the most valued aspects of this edition of the Smart Energy Congress has been the ability to generate synergies between key actors from different sectors. Technology companies, energy providers, consultants, innovation experts and representatives of the academic field were able to establish collaboration networks aimed at the search and implementation of digital transformation solutions that translate into advances in their energy transition, while also providing great improvements in competitiveness.
Looking to the Future: Spain as a Reference in Sustainability
The 2024 edition of the Smart Energy Congress has served to reaffirm the vision of the enerTIC Platform on Spain’s potential to become a European benchmark in technological innovation and sustainability. The objectives achieved during this congress confirm that the country is prepared to lead the energy transition and successfully face the challenges posed by the European Union’s sustainability agenda.
