Toshiba has inaugurated a new HDD innovation laboratory (HDD Innovation Lab) at its headquarters in Düsseldorf. With this new center, Toshiba expands its hard -line disco evaluation capabilities (HDD) for customers and partners in Europe and the Middle East, helping them to identify optimal configurations for large IT infrastructure, such as storage area networks (SAN), storage connected to the network (NAS), Cloud video surveillance and storage systems.

Comprehensive test services
The evaluation of hard drives and specific architectures of each client is one of the main capacities of the laboratory. It provides a platform for the development of concept tests (POC) and the configuration of unique architectures. A differential aspect of the laboratory is its ability to perform comparative evaluations of storage architectures based on hard disc units, such as different servers, JBOD (Just a Bunch of Disks), chassis, controllers, cables and software for operating systems, video management and storage. The installation also has equipment for precise energy analysis, allowing energy consumption benchmarks.

After the evaluation, the Hard Disk Innovation Laboratory offers personalized answers to customer questions, guaranteeing that the knowledge acquired from rigorous tests will be shared effectively. In addition, it will carry out internal research on the performance and optimization of its own hard drives ranges. The results, in the form of technical documents and laboratory reports, will be available on the Toshiba Storage website.
Share knowledge
The HDD Innovation Lab provides personalized answers to all customer questions to ensure that the knowledge acquired from rigorous tests is effectively shared. It will also carry out internal research on the performance and optimization of its different hard drives, available on the Toshiba Storage website.
To further support customer participation, the laboratory offers additional services, such as sending loan samples for its own evaluation. This service is available for both small and large amounts of HDD, guaranteeing that customers can thoroughly evaluate devices in their own environments.
Live demonstrations and participation in commercial fairs
Toshiba will also use the installation to carry out live demonstrations of business applications, video surveillance and NAS/SAN in order to participate in commercial fairs, the sharing of knowledge and the dissemination of the latest advances in storage solutions.
