An accessory that many users have been waiting for for years. PCs will finally have a real external trackpad!

For years, there was a belief that the trackpad (or – if you prefer – touchpad) was a necessary evil associated with mobile computers. However, Apple has proven that this element of the computer can be not only functional, but also convenient. So much so that in 2010 the Magic Trackpad was introduced to the market – an external accessory that can be used with both stationary and mobile computers of the Cupertino giant.

PCs have always been far behind in this respect. It’s not even that non-MacBook laptops haven’t caught up. Because in recent years, other manufacturers have actually tried to catch up on the topic. And using the trackpads built into them is much better.

However, the problem arises when we start looking for an external trackpad other than Magic Trackpad. The one with PC works quite well – and it’s not the cheapest one. That’s why the market has been waiting for a solid alternative for years. The good news is that Hyper has just decided to fill this niche. And at the current CES fair, it presented an alternative to Apple’s Magic Trackpad: its HyperSpace Trackpad Pro.

HyperSpace Trackpad Pro: the first solid trackpad for PC will be available this summer!

HyperSpace Trackpad Pro is the latest offer from the company that offers a real PC trackpad. The accessory is intended to support gestures performed with several fingers, and the manufacturer also offers precision and perfect hand detection. The trackpad is oblong – its upper part is covered with glass, there are rubber bands on the edges, and the bottom has an aluminum finish.

As you might expect, HyperSpace Trackpad Pro will not be the cheapest. The company priced it at $129.99. A lot, but in fact it’s… very comparable to Apple. This is how much you have to pay for their white trackpad (the black variant of the Magic Trackpad is $20 more expensive).

Along with the debut of the new trackpad, Hyper will also release a dedicated application: Hydra. This will allow you to adjust the trackpad operation for each application separately. The accessory will be able to support special shortcuts for individual applications – all this thanks to the creation of dedicated profiles. It promises to be extremely interesting and creative – accessories such as the Stream Deck have been proving for years how much power lies in this type of customization. Therefore, here too I expect many creative solutions that will be used by many users in their everyday work.

Better late than never. Because although we’ve been waiting for HyperSpace Trackpad Pro for years (and we will wait a while longer), it’s nice that someone has finally decided to create an accessory that will be a direct competitor to the popular Apple trackpad. Will this be enough to encourage users to abandon their mice? We’ll find out soon!
