Madrid hosted the third edition of «360º Business Continuity: Creating a resilient future«, a meeting organized by GlobalSuite Solutions that brought together continuity, risk and security managers from leading companies such as Naturgy, Telefónica, FCC Servicios Ciudadanos, KPMG, Minsait, GMV and Inetum. In a global context marked by volatility and unforeseen events, the event became a space for reflection on how organizations can strengthen their capacity to adapt and guarantee the continuity of their operations in the face of any crisis.

An increasingly uncertain environment drives a culture of resilience

Natural phenomena, cyberattacks, technological disruptions or failures in critical infrastructure have become more frequent in recent years. These incidents not only affect productivity, but can compromise the reputation and stability of companies. In this new scenario, business continuity is no longer perceived as a technical task, but as a comprehensive corporate survival strategy.

During the meeting, held on November 6, the speakers agreed that resilience must become a transversal value that permeates the entire organization. José Márquez, Global Head Security Risks & Resilience at Naturgy, highlighted the need to “understand resilience from two complementary perspectives, operational and organizational,” and added that a truly resilient company is one capable of maintaining its critical operations in the face of incidents and, at the same time, learning and evolving from them.

From risk management to competitive advantage

Business continuity has ceased to be a mere regulatory requirement and has become a differentiating element. Joaquín González, head of the Intelligence Department at FCC Servicios Ciudadanos, highlighted that the first steps towards resilience involve establishing a clear risk governance structure and defining precise responsibilities at all levels of the company.

For his part, Gonzalo Gil Solé, GRC Tech manager at KPMG Spain, explained how Government, Risk and Compliance (GRC) technological solutions allow continuity management to be integrated in a more efficient and automated way. Technology, he maintained, has become an indispensable ally to anticipate threats, evaluate impacts and guarantee quick responses to any contingency.

The event also included the participation of Alfredo Thomas Moretti, assurance, resilience and crisis management manager at Telefónica, along with Joaquín Sánchez-Cantalejo, head of the Business Continuity Office at the same company. Both shared real cases about how the operator applies continuity plans in highly digitalized environments and how the culture of resilience extends beyond the security teams to involve the entire organization.

AI redefines business resilience

One of the highlights of the day was the intervention of Alejandro Delgado, director of business development in Iberia at GlobalSuite Solutions, who analyzed the role of artificial intelligence in risk protection and management. His presentation addressed how AI systems already make it possible to detect vulnerabilities before they materialize, optimize decision-making in crisis situations and reduce response times.

The application of predictive algorithms and intelligent automation is emerging as a decisive step towards more proactive resilience. Companies that manage to integrate these technologies into their continuity processes will be able to anticipate failures, reduce costs and improve their ability to react to complex scenarios.

New regulations and corporate culture

The final round table, which included the participation of experts from Minsait, GMV and Inetum, addressed the impact of the NIS2 and DORA regulations, as well as the need to align resilience with the new European regulatory requirements. The speakers agreed that compliance should not only be seen as an obligation, but as an opportunity to strengthen trust between customers, partners and employees.

“Bringing together leaders from different sectors allows us to share real experiences and move together towards a truly resilient business culture. Business continuity is no longer just an obligation, but an opportunity to strengthen the trust and competitiveness of organizations,” said Antonio Quevedo, CEO of GlobalSuite Solutions, at the close of the meeting.
