Telefónica and General Dynamics European Land Systems – Santa Barbara Systems have signed a collaboration agreement to integrate 5G Standalone (SA) technology in armored vehicles that the company manufactures in Spain.

The objective is to complement the communications of vehicles with tactical bubbles based on 5G SA technology that will increase the capacity of transmission and hyperconnectivity, qualities especially demanded today to achieve a superiority in the information against the adversary.

Thanks to the bandwidth and low latency provided by this technology, vehicles will not only improve their situational consciousness, but can also connect and share information with other weapons systems, both manned and not manned, establishing safe video, audio and data flow services in the so -called operations theater.

Likewise, the incorporation of 5G SA and the creation of 5G tactical bubbles will lead to another level the connectivity and interoperability secured by the neva system that all the GDELS platforms carry. These vehicles may, therefore, create networks defined networks to exchange data within the operations zone between several platforms, robotic devices, users or other communication nodes, with total independence of public networks following the NGVA standard.

The potential of this technology of dual use, which is already being used in the civil sphere, as is the case of emergency and security systems, contributes to the digitalization and transformation of the armed forces, increasing the efficiency and safety in the development of their missions.
