SmartEnergyCongress.eu 2026, organized by the enerTIC.org Platform, has closed its 14th edition with growth that reinforces its role as a major annual meeting point for the energy sector. For two days, the IFEMA Madrid North Convention Center has brought together strategic knowledge, transformation experiences and technological solutions, along with spaces for business and institutional dialogue.
The energy sector and utilities have occupied a central place for their role in the evolution of the economy as a whole. The modernization of networks and assets, the integration of renewables and storage and the response to new large consumption have been connected with the needs of industry, mobility, public services and digital infrastructures.
Under the motto “From data to decision: intelligence as a response to the great energy challenge”, the program has addressed how to transfer AI and data to daily operations, scale solutions beyond pilots and combine technological capabilities with the knowledge and judgment of professionals.
The auditoriums and rooms have allowed us to delve deeper into these challenges from complementary perspectives:
- Strategy Auditorium. It has connected decisions on energy infrastructure and utilities with resilience, sovereignty and European competitiveness. Its sessions have also addressed data governance, industrial transformation and the management of cities, territories and public services.
- Technology Auditorium. It has moved the debate to the application of AI, operational intelligence, automation, cybersecurity and digital twins. The evolution of energy companies and the integration of data centers into the electrical system in the face of the growth of AI have had a prominent role.
- Thematic rooms. The Industry–Energy & Utilities and eGovernment & Cities–IT & Data Center spaces have hosted conversations and cases on network operation, energy flexibility, maintenance, industrial efficiency, logistics, mobility and urban and digital infrastructures.
The program has connected the experience of organizations such as Red Eléctrica, Iberdrola, Enagás, Repsol, ENGIE España and Canal de Isabel II, Gestamp, Mahou San Miguel, Navantia, AENA and Renfe, among others, with the capabilities of technology companies, consultants and specialists.
Jesús Herrero Poza, general director of Red.es, participated in the inauguration; José de la Uz, mayor of Las Rozas and president of RECI; and Jaime Carnicero de la Cámara, general director of Organization and Resources of FEMP. The closing ceremony was attended by Mr. Manuel Pérez Gómez, Deputy Minister of Digitalization of the Community of Madrid and Mr. Ángel Niño, Councilor for the Delegated Area of Innovation and Entrepreneurship of the Madrid City Council. In both events, institutional representatives highlighted the work of the enerTIC Platform and its positioning, which connects energy efficiency and sustainability with competitiveness, resilience and energy and technological sovereignty.
The energy sector and utilities have occupied a central place for their role in the evolution of the economy as a whole.
The Congress activity extended to the EXPO Zone and the Meeting Points, where professionals were able to learn about solutions and continue conversations with exhibiting and sponsoring companies. The meeting spaces completed the value of the program.
In the year of the 15th anniversary of enerTIC.org, the Congress continues the work of the Advisory Council, the five Expert Committees and the “The Challenge” reports. The experiences and needs shared during this edition provide new references to guide this work and continue connecting challenges, knowledge and solutions at the service of the energy and digital transition and the European objectives for 2030 and beyond.
