Digital platforms have acquired a fundamental role in the field of health, becoming key tools to improve medical care. With the aim of offering a high-quality service adapted to the needs of its users, Sanitas has developed Blua, a digital ecosystem that integrates various health services for its 2.5 million customers.

This initiative reflects Sanitas’ commitment to innovation, which began in 2016 by being a pioneer in the insurance sector with the introduction of video consultation, and continues to expand its digital solutions to promote preventive medicine and personalized treatments.

“Digitalization offers more precise, participatory health management adapted to individual needs. Digital monitoring of some chronic diseases really improves people’s quality of life. Today we decided to extend Blua, Sanitas’ digital health, to our entire customer base. We believe that technology has driven the advancement of medicine, and that digital care and prevention allow us to provide our policyholders with a more exclusive and personalized service,” says Javier Ibáñez, general director of Sanitas Seguros.

Blua, Sanitas’ digital health

Blua provides a wide range of digital tools focused on prevention, diagnosis and care. These include personalized health programs, in which professionals such as nutritionists, personal trainers and psychologists develop customized plans and carry out continuous monitoring to help the client meet their goals. The “Assess your symptoms” functionality is also offered, a virtual assistant that helps patients with initial triage and refers them to an in-person consultation or video consultation if necessary.

Other services available, focused on prevention, are Digital Physio, where clients perform guided therapeutic exercises in real time; Take care of your Mind, which promotes mental health and well-being; and Check Your Health, a new addition that allows the client to carry out digital check-ups to know their health status, with the support and monitoring of medical specialists.

Sanitas continues to support more humane, precise and personalized medicine, supported by technology and data, allowing professionals to offer diagnoses and treatments based on constantly updated information.

Sanitas’ network of physical centers is also growing in line with its digital advances. An example of this is the Sanitas Valdebebas Hospital, which is scheduled to launch in the first half of 2025. This hospital, the company’s fifth, will combine the best of in-person care with the most advanced technologies in digital health, including artificial intelligence, big data and advanced analytics. It will have specialized units in oncology, mental health and nuclear medicine, and will also be the headquarters of the Sanitas Hospitales Research Foundation.

“At Sanitas we believe in a hybrid medicine model, which combines the best of technology with quality in-person care,” explains Ibáñez. “These digital solutions not only empower doctors and patients, but also facilitate prevention and allow both parties to decide which is the most appropriate channel or tool in each case,” he concludes.
