The acquisition of Novatec, by CGI, which has more than 300 IT experts and consulting distributed in eight offices in Germany and one in Granada, Spain, will strengthen the company’s position in the European market. “Combining Novatec and CGI expertise, we will boost an additional business value for our clients in the automotive, industry and financial services sectors,” says Ralf Bauer, president of CGI’s operations in Germany.

Founded in 1996, Novatec offers a wide range of IT consulting services and software development, including digital strategies, cloud -based solutions and digital products development. Novatec application performance management solutions will complement the CGI existing solution portfolio, allowing customers to accelerate digital innovation through new technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI).

The acquisition will allow Novatec customers to access CGI’s global capabilities, their delivery centers network and their extensive variety of integral services and solutions. “In CGI, we found a company aligned with our own principles and culture, which was very important for us when taking the next step,” said Michael Schuchart, founder and general director of Novatec. This lace between both companies is based on the local proximity model of CGI and a wide variety of opportunities to expand the joint portfolio for the benefit of customers.

IT and consulting sector in Europe

The purchase of Novatec by CGI will strengthen its presence in the automotive and e-moving sector, areas in which Novatec has a strong presence. This combination will allow CGI to offer more robust solutions and adapted to the specific needs of these sectors, promoting innovation and operational efficiency.

The purchase agreement was signed on January 29, 2025 and the transaction is subject to the corresponding regulatory approvals and other usual closing conditions. The acquisition is expected to be completed in March 2025. Once finished, this transaction will allow CGI to consolidate its position in the European market and expand its offer of technological services and solutions.
