63% of companies plan to increase their cloud security budgets in the next 12 months. This is the main conclusion of the report “State of the Security Cloud 2025”, promoted by Fortinet and prepared by Cybersecury Insiders, where it is highlighted that cloud security represents 35% of the total safety expenditure, which underlines the growing Importance of protecting hybrid and multicloud environments.
It is also revealed that 82% of the organizations surveyed use cloud environments to achieve greater scalability, flexibility and resilience. The adoption of the hybrid cloud has increased to 54%, allowing organizations to integrate their local systems with public cloud platforms. This approach makes it possible to optimize the implementation of applications according to specific needs, achieving a balance between control and compliance
Although, despite the benefits of cloud adoption, 61% of respondents identify regulatory and compliance concerns such as the main barriers. Incorrect configurations, breach of regulation and data violations are urgent problems, especially in hybrid and multicloud environments. For example, medical care suppliers migrate patient records to the cloud must comply with the GDPR regulation and protect confidential information
Cloud Security for 2025
- Qualified personnel shortage. 76% of organizations report a lack of personnel and experience in cloud security, which limits their ability to implement and manage comprehensive security solutions. This scarcity underlines the need for training and improvement of specific skills to overcome the gap and rethink the cloud implementation strategies, reducing complexity and increasing the effectiveness of security
Report on the State of Security Cloud 2025: More investment in cloud in the coming months, lack of qualified personnel and complexity of the normative environment
- Confidence in threat detection. Only 36% of respondents trust their organization’s ability to detect and respond to threats in their cloud environments. This lack of trust highlights the vulnerabilities of current architectures, especially in complex hybrid and multicloud configurations
The report highlights the urgent need for proactive strategies to address cloud security challenges. Critical steps include:
- Adoption of unified platforms: Simplify policy management and guarantee coherence in all environments.
- Investment in training: Reduce the cybersecurity skills gap.
- Use of CNAPP platforms: Combine advanced tools such as workload protection, configuration and defense management in execution time to protect containers and improve threat detection.
- End -to -end encryption and automated risk remediation: Improve data protection.
