Vertiv has launched the Vertiv PowerUPS 9000, an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) that stands out for its high efficiency, power density and compact design. This equipment is designed to support IT applications, from traditional to high-density systems. The new UPS is available globally in UL and CE certified models, with capacities ranging from 250 to 1250 kW per unit.

The Vertiv PowerUPS 9000 offers high power density and double conversion efficiency of up to 97.5%. Installation is quick and easy, with both top and bottom cable entry options, and features built-in feedback protection and ground fault kits, with no need for additional space or on-site installations. These units can be deployed anywhere in the world, minimizing service risks, delivery delays and downtime.

“The new Vertiv PowerUPS 9000 UPS is designed to maximize reliability and efficiency, while reducing size and complexity. Thanks to their modular structure and high power density, these devices provide the efficient and reliable protection that data center customers need for their traditional and mixed AI applications,” explains Giovanni Zanei, vice president of Large Power Conversion at Vertiv.

Vertiv PowerUPS 9000: Compact UPS with high density

This new UPS is the most efficient in its category from Vertiv and its physical size is 32% smaller than previous generations. Additionally, it is compatible with Vertiv EnergyCore lithium-ion battery cabinets and other battery technologies, including valve-regulated lead-acid (VRLA) and nickel-zinc.

Each power module has dedicated, segregated controls, as well as dual, hot-swappable control and communication boards, allowing independent operation. In the event of a failure, the affected module can self-isolate to protect others and allow the system to continue operating. The continuous-running, solid-state static bypass switch optimizes the bypass line, and the system allows for service interventions and hot swaps, facilitating seamless maintenance and upgrades.

Vertiv PowerUPS 9000 UPSs can be enabled to operate with Vertiv Next Predict, a preventative maintenance strategy that uses advanced monitoring, analysis and data-driven health control to optimize operations at each location. Vertiv offers a comprehensive solution to optimize equipment performance and lifespan, using AI and machine learning algorithms to monitor actual equipment conditions and measure its health.

In Vertiv testing laboratories, engineers subjected Vertiv PowerUPS 9000 UPSs to extensive engineering validation testing (EVT) and design validation testing (DVT) under a wide range of operating conditions to confirm their performance and reliability in real-world situations. The equipment also underwent additional environmental and performance testing, including debris protection, structural integrity and seismic durability testing, and voltage surge and sag testing, to simulate the extreme conditions these systems could face.
