Workiva has announced the launch of three specialized AI agents, as well as Workiva Knowledge, a layer of persistent intelligence based on the data, instructions and content of each organization.
Agents will help customers with the most advanced solutions streamline reporting and compliance processes, with the control and traceability offered by the Workiva platform. Together, these capabilities provide business teams with controlled AI, capable of operating at the speed and scale their organizations require.
“Finance, sustainability, risk and compliance teams are moving from execution to orchestration as AI agents take on more of the work, and we are developing the platform that makes this transformation possible,” said Deepak Bharadwaj, Chief Product Officer at Workiva. “As we evolve the Workiva platform, we remain faithful to what our clients have always expected from us: precision, transparency and solutions adapted to the reality and complexity of their work.”
Audit-ready agents
Reporting and compliance teams spend countless hours cross-checking data and evaluating it against industry standards and benchmarks. This work is critical, but can be overwhelming when done on a large scale. Workiva’s specialized AI agents take on this burden and generate traceable, robust, audit-ready results.
conciliation agent
Ensuring that the figures in a financial report are consistent and can be compared with their sources is one of the most time-consuming tasks during financial close. Workiva’s reconciliation agent performs extensive checks on financial reports, detecting discrepancies and providing AI-generated explanations for each variance. This way, teams can detect errors earlier, expedite closure, and have a fully documented audit trail, speeding up both internal review and external auditing.
Benchmarking Agent
For the financial information disclosed to be aligned with market practices, it is necessary to know how other companies in the sector present their data, an analysis that has traditionally been carried out outside the reporting processes. With Workiva’s benchmarking agent, information about other companies is no longer separate and is integrated into the same platform where financial information is written and verified. The agent analyzes data disclosed by comparable companies in their 10-K and 10-Q reports filed with the SEC, allowing financial reporting teams to create custom groups of comparable companies, identify gaps in the disclosed information, and write financial information with data and conclusions that can be traced back to the original source.
Sustainability information agent
Compliance obligations are increasing as sustainability disclosure requirements expand globally. Workiva’s Sustainability Reporting Agent writes, verifies and improves disclosures in accordance with ESRS and ISSB standards, generating gap analyzes and compliance scorecards with concrete recommendations. Thus, teams can go from interpreting new requirements to reviewing information already prepared for presentation, with fewer gaps and a clear record of the process followed to generate each result.
Intelligence that feeds and enriches itself
Workiva agents reduce work that requires more time and effort, while Workiva Knowledge provides a common foundation for all AI interactions on the platform. Knowledge enables customers to develop intelligence based on their organization’s data, personalized instructions and content, from previously submitted reports and internal policies to corporate guidelines and documentation from trusted sources. This foundation is enriched with each reporting cycle, so that each interaction with AI builds on the previous ones. Knowledge is complemented by the flexibility of Workiva’s new gateway for the recently announced Model Context Protocol (MCP).
Workiva agents reduce work that requires more time and effort
Workiva’s MCP gateway allows customers to use the AI of their choice and eliminate alternative manual processes, while maintaining permissions, control mechanisms and traceability of Workiva data. Knowledge ensures that the results generated by Workiva AI, regardless of the model or agent producing them, are based on the appropriate context and can be traced back to the source materials on which they are based.
Across Workiva’s customer base, Knowledge is designed to support critical work processes: generating information consistent with that presented in previous reports, producing prepared explanations for review by auditors and examiners, with a complete audit trail, responding to requests from regulatory agencies using the language of pre-approved communications, and much more. The result is an AI that does more than just streamline or complement work. Figures and content can withstand scrutiny from stakeholders, and managers can trust and verify AI-generated analytics.
