How to vote correspondence and who can do it?

Not everyone can or wants to stand in the election urn queue. Sometimes health does not allow it, other times an unplanned trip. The good news is that in many cases you can vote from home, i.e. correspondence. If you meet certain conditions, you can vote correspondence – without queues, stress and a visit to a nearby school or library. How to embrace it and who can actually use it? We explain below.

Who can vote correspondence at all?

Not everyone, but the list is quite long. Above all:

  • people who They are 60 years old;
  • people they have A moderate or significant disability certificate;
  • people who stay on quarantine, in insulation or home insulation.

In addition, you must have Polish citizenship, Active electoral rights (that is, not to be incapacitated and not to have electoral rights received), live in Poland And be 18 years old (this is a limitation regarding 2 and 3 of the subsection).

How to report a desire to vote online?

The most convenient option is to use trusted profile and submitting an application online. What do you need to prepare?

  • Login details for ePUAP.
  • If you have a ruling – a scan or a photo of the document.
  • If you have vision problems – you can ask for an overlay with Braille’s alphabet.

  1. You go to login.gov.pl, find the right tab and click “Submit application”.
  2. You log in with a trusted profile.
  3. You provide the address at which you will be on the day of the election.
  4. You sign an application electronically.

And it’s ready – confirmation of submitting the application will come to your ePUAP inbox.

What if you prefer to get it to the office?

The relevant application can also be submitted to the headquarters of the electoral commissioner. You can find a list of offices here. You must prepare:

  • ID card or passport,
  • application (form available online),
  • Data: name, surname, pesel, package shipping address, mail and telephone.
  • If you are a person with a disability – a copy of the decision.

You can submit your application personally or post to the election commissioner competent for your place of residence. The office may register an application in the system only From 44 days before the election day.

Until when do you need to report?

Important here. The whole procedure must be within certain dates. Of course, we send the application before the election.

  • In “ordinary” cases – until the 13th day before the election.
  • If you are on quarantine/insulation – up to 5 days before the election.
  • If you start insulation less than 5 days before the election – up to 2 days before the election.

If this is the second round of elections, you apply at the latest 10 days before the day of voting.

What is correspondence voting?

After you report your intention to vote, correspondence, You will get an election package that will come by post. There will be everything you need there: voting card, instructions, return envelope. You will get the package no later than 6 days before the election or – if you are in isolation – 2 days before. You fill, pack in accordance with the instructions and throw it into the mailbox or give it to an official if you have such a possibility.

Who can’t vote correspondence?

It is also worth knowing when you can’t use this form of voting. This applies to, among others people:

  • which will vote abroad,
  • staying on sea ships,
  • voting in student homes, DPS, prisons, etc.,
  • which granted the power of attorney to vote.

If you are in one of these groups – unfortunately, correspondence voting not for you.

To sum up: if you have 60+, a disability certificate or you sit on quarantine – you don’t have to choose between health and participation in the elections. Correspondence voting is a real and available option that you can use. Don’t leave it at the last minute. Although the whole process is simple, the dates are stiffly set. And since you can vote in this way, it would be a shame to waste a chance.
