Telefónica reports that its Mobile Network Security (SRM) service has exceeded 2 million protected corporate mobile lines, blocking more than 926 million attacks in 2025 and consolidating itself as a key piece in Telefónica’s cyber defense strategy in the business environment.
The SRM service, developed in collaboration with Akamai Technologies and Telefónica Tech, acts directly from the Telefónica network by inspecting DNS (Domain Name Systems) queries to automatically prevent access to malicious sites related to phishing – identity theft -, malware – malicious software -, botnets – a network of infected and remotely controlled robots – and viruses with similar characteristics.
This massive protection, which does not require the installation of software on the devices, guarantees companies the continuity of their activity, avoiding the economic impact associated with cybersecurity incidents and the interruption of their operations.
Since its launch in June 2022, SRM has already been deployed on more than 2 million business mobile lines associated with 112,000 clients, of which 37.5% correspond to large corporations and 62.5% are small and medium-sized companies, reflecting the growing awareness of SMEs to the risk of cyberattacks.
Exposure to security risks
Last year alone, Telefónica Empresas’ Mobile Network Security service prevented nearly 926 million attacks, of which 836 million were related to malware infections, 51 million to phishing scams and 39.5 million to botnets. Among the most frequent incidents are malware variants such as Suppobox_v2 and Conficker.B, as well as malicious file distribution URLs; phishing campaigns based on fraudulent domains; and infections and amplified DNS traffic linked to botnets.
In addition to network protection, SRM offers companies a completely intuitive self-management web portal that allows you to activate, configure and manage the service autonomously. Thus, companies can create up to eight employee groups with different levels of filtering and usage policies; customize blocking pages with your logo and corporate messages; configure restrictions by web categories (such as social networks, games or streaming); set access times to encourage digital disconnection, and generate detailed reports on browsing activity and blocked access attempts.
This visibility enables both risk management and compliance with internal policies – such as digital disconnection – and security regulations.
The growing importance of cybersecurity
The threat context is increasing and the number of companies, especially SMEs, that suffer attempted cyber attacks has increased. Cybercriminals have also begun to use artificial intelligence techniques to write much more convincing phishing and scam emails, reducing language errors and increasing the success rate of their campaigns. According to the Cyberpreparation 2025 report from the company Hiscox, 59% of Spanish SMEs have been victims of a cyberattack last year.
In this scenario, the smartphone has become a critical asset: it concentrates communications, access to confidential information, credentials and corporate applications, and can act as an entry vector to the rest of the organization if it is compromised. Therefore, protecting the mobile phone from the heart of the network, without depending on user behavior or the installation of software applications, is an essential element of the corporate cybersecurity strategy.
The value proposition of Mobile Network Security is based on offering integrated protection in the network, which blocks threats before they reach the device, without applications, without additional permissions and without depending on the user’s attention. With coverage of national and international mobile traffic in roaming, global intelligence fed by hundreds of millions of accesses, 24/7 centralized management by Telefónica Empresas and total visibility through the My Digital Management portal, SRM is positioned as an ideal solution for corporations, public administrations and the management of fleets of mobile vehicles, while protecting the business of small and medium-sized companies with advanced cybersecurity.

Within the framework of the Mobile World Congress that will take place in Barcelona, SRM and its success story will be one of the topics that will be discussed on the morning of Thursday, March 5 at the Akamai stand in Hall 8.1 – 4YFN Stand 8.1B62.2.
