Ant International introduces the Agentic Mobile Protocol (AMP) for the agentic commerce sector, created with the goal of enabling a secure, AIOps-native agentic payment connection to mobile services, including digital wallets, banking applications, super apps and mobile portals, from phones to wearable devices.

This fully open source protocol enables large language models (LLMs), platforms and merchants to seamlessly and agentically connect with 4.4 billion digital wallet users worldwide through a simple and secure integration.

“We are deeply grateful to the partners, acquirers and developers who have contributed to this project. An agentic commerce protocol for mobile commerce that ensures superior efficiency and security will be key for businesses, large and small, to expand into the world’s fastest growing markets. We look forward to expanding our agreements on multiple levels to enable real-world AI agentic commerce success,” said Jiang-Ming Yang, Chief Innovation Officer at Ant International.

Mobile wallets and payments, key drivers of agentic commerce

The global agentic commerce market could reach around US$28 billion by 2030, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 46%, as the sector rapidly advances from AI agent pilot programs to large-scale autonomous transaction systems(1). The number of digital wallet users globally reached 4.4 billion in 2025, and is expected to exceed 6 billion—more than 75% of the world’s population—by 2030(2).

While new payment channels are positioned to become a primary interface for AI-based commerce, current AI payment protocols are largely designed for card channels. Merchants and digital wallets must be able to deliver a seamless agentic payment experience, seamlessly authenticate trusted agents and verify credentials, and seamlessly handle post-payment transaction management and settlement tasks in a native mobile and AI environment.

With the Agentic Mobile Protocol, merchants—LLMs, AI platforms, self-developed agent merchants, and agent builders—and digital wallets can integrate agentic payment functionality directly into their workflows, eliminating the need for system renewals.

Ant International has open sourced AMP to help establish a universal, auditable standard that ensures AI agents can securely and seamlessly transact on any global platform, driving an interoperable agentic infrastructure.

AMP Framework Features

The platform offers an agentic payment experience through agents thanks to the following aspects:

  • Faster agent integration: The number of steps required to link a payment agent to a digital wallet is reduced by 50% compared to traditional card linking methods. This integration reinforces a more scalable agentic payments model.
  • Money-back guarantee: Every transaction initiated by an agent is backed by a money-back guarantee mechanism for payment partners in case of account takeover, reinforcing the security of the agentic ecosystem.
  • Cross-device compatibility: Payment agents can operate on mobile interfaces on smartphones, smart watches, AR glasses and in-car systems, a capability that card-based systems lack and that enables cross-device agentic experiences.

A more efficient and secure trust architecture for agent delegation ensures secure and accurate delegation of payment authority to AI agents—whether ordering a coffee, booking a trip, or planning a vacation—with full visibility and the ability to revoke or modify tasks at any time, strengthening an agentic trust framework.

A high-frequency agent-to-agent (A2A) settlement mechanism enables automated, ultra-small transactions between AI agents. It is capable of managing nanotransactions as small as $0.000001 between agents with real-time accounting and clearing. A2A settlement is crucial to the agentic economy, which requires the ability to process high-frequency, sub-penny agent transactions that traditional payment systems cannot support.

A comprehensive Know Your Agent (KYA) framework establishes an agent’s digital identity and certifies their authorized capabilities. The proprietary agent trust rating mechanism offers an additional layer of protection, a dynamic risk management tool that determines whether an agent is trustworthy and controls its level of autonomy within the agentic ecosystem.

Ecosystem of 40 members in intersectoral coordination

Ant International is working with Alipay+ wallet partners, the company’s global wallet gateway, to implement AMP. Alipay+ now connects more than 40 digital wallet partners, spanning 1.8 billion user accounts and 150 million merchants worldwide.

Leveraging this payment partner network spanning wallets, acquirers, super apps and cards, Ant International is among the first Mastercard and Visa partners to pilot card transaction capabilities for AI agents, while collaborating with Google on its protocols for agentic agent commerce and payments.
