Proofpoint, a leading cybersecurity and compliance company, has announced significant enhancements to its Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) and data access governance capabilities in Europe, including expanded coverage for AI-enabled data discovery and classification in Europe’s leading business languages.
Hosted from Proofpoint’s data center in Frankfurt, Germany, these investments help organizations securely embrace AI by discovering, classifying and governing sensitive data more effectively, while meeting changing data residency, privacy and regulatory requirements.
As European organizations accelerate their adoption of AI, they face growing challenges in understanding where sensitive data is located, who can access it, and how it is used in increasingly complex cloud environments. In fact, data from Proofpoint’s AI and Human Risk Landscape (2026) report shows that 42% of organizations report having experienced a suspected or confirmed AI-related incident. To help address these challenges, Proofpoint expands its AI-powered data discovery, classification, access governance, and remediation capabilities in English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, and Italian, enabling organizations to identify sensitive and business-critical information regardless of the language in which it is written.
Greater automation of the platform
Proofpoint also extends its portfolio of EU-specific data classifiers, including national personal identifiers, passport numbers, tax identification numbers, mobile phone numbers and postal addresses, offering comprehensive coverage across all EU countries.
Using shared classifiers and policy frameworks across the Proofpoint platform, the company helps organizations transform DSPM information into data loss prevention (DLP), automating the creation of DLP policies and consistently protecting sensitive information. Combined with local hosting and service delivery from Proofpoint’s data center in Frankfurt, these capabilities help organizations meet European data residency requirements while maintaining visibility, governance and control over sensitive information.

With these enhancements, Proofpoint enables organizations to better align with emerging regulations, including the EU AI Law, by mapping data risk findings to recommended governance and compliance controls, helping security and compliance teams audit and reduce the risk associated with sensitive data and the use of AI.
Since the DSPM solution is now available from Proofpoint’s data center in Frankfurt, European organizations can access Proofpoint’s comprehensive data security platform with integrated data residency of origin. The platform connects data discovery and classification with access governance, data loss prevention, data security for AI, and internal risk management across cloud, SaaS, endpoint, email, and on-premises environments, giving security teams a direct path from identifying sensitive data exposure to taking timely action.
Proofpoint’s enhanced DSPM capabilities for European customers are expected to be available starting this August 2026.
