Celonis and Uniper have shown that AI agents need the right operational context to function more accurately, quickly and cost-effectively. Uniper uses an agent based on the Celonis Context Model and developed in Microsoft Copilot Studio to improve key processes in human resources management: the selection and hiring of talent.
“Enterprise AI can only reach its full potential when you understand how a business really works and how to make it work better,” says Lars Reinkemeyer, Chief Evangelist at Celonis. “The impressive results Uniper has achieved demonstrate how companies can generate tangible and growing value by transforming business-critical operations thanks to enterprise AI based on the Celonis Context Model.”
“With Celonis as our context layer, we are creating AI solutions that are not just tools we experiment with, but assistants we trust,” says Robert Daamen, director of Uniper’s Process Intelligence Center of Excellence. “Celonis Context Model offers our HR teams complete transparency in the hiring and selection process, and eliminates unnecessary obstacles that delay the incorporation of new talent to our team.”
Context is what really matters
In collaboration with Celonis and an independent consultancy, Uniper has developed and tested an AI agent using Microsoft Copilot Studio, designed to improve the process of selecting and hiring top-level talent.
The agent uses a natural language interface to provide hiring managers with relevant information about the selection process, such as active job offers and shortlisted candidates. It also identifies and highlights urgent and overdue tasks for recruiters and managers. In addition, it coordinates the actions of the HR staff. HH., how to write and send emails to colleagues and candidates.

To evaluate the agent, the team ran the same instructions twice: once, with the agent, using only raw data from the HR system itself and then using only raw data from the HR system itself. HH. from Uniper; and another, using the operational context of the Celonis Context Model. The results were surprising.
Specifically, the agent was asked the following question: “What are the bottlenecks in the selection and hiring process?” Based solely on Uniper data, the agent offered a list of generic responses, such as “data fragmentation,” “hiring manager overload,” and “lack of task visibility.” However, when the agent relied on the operational context provided by the CCM, he provided detailed responses, specific not only to the HR team. HH. of Uniper, but also for each of the team members. For example: “There are 27 candidates in various job offers who have been on the shortlist for more than 14 days.”
Based on these excellent results, the team put the agent into production and has already achieved significant operational improvements, including:
· Drastic reductions in cycle lengths: The average time to signature of candidates was reduced by 27 days, while the selection phase improved by 13 days.
· Greater accuracy and reliability of AI: Recruiters and managers receive accurate information rather than generic answers.
· Greater control of the process: the HR team HH. Transparency has improved, allowing them to better understand the process and act proactively. · Optimized token efficiency: By basing the AI agent on the business context, token waste is eliminated by replacing probabilistic inferences with pre-structured business logic.
In addition to improving HR processes. HH., Uniper, Celonis and Microsoft are collaborating to transform other critical business processes, such as plant maintenance, hydropower management, IT service management (ITSM), energy sales and trading, financial services and internal audit.
For example, Uniper’s Sales and Trading division performs hundreds of trades per hour. Thanks to Celonis Data Core, the company’s Process Intelligence Center of Excellence can transmit this data to Celonis in real time, allowing Uniper to make the right decisions and act in a timely manner. The key to leading this expansion is the collaboration and support of Uniper’s management, including the CIO, the CFO and the CPTO (director of people and transformation), responsible for the transformation of the HR areas. HH. and technology.
