This week the celebration took place for another year of AWS re:Invent 2025 in Las Vegas (United States), the company’s event par excellence in which it was possible to learn about the latest developments around the cloud, agentic AI, ML and data centers that it is deploying. From December 1 to 5, real customer cases, launches of new products and services, as well as keynotes from AWS leaders have been shown in which topics of great interest about cloud technology, the future of AI and data centers have been addressed.

According to data from an IDC report, 23% of organizations expect to achieve full implementation of agentic AI technology in the next 12 months, while 65% of organizations expect to achieve it by 2027, highlighting the significant growth potential of this technology.

Three new categories for partners

To address this growing demand, the company has announced three new categories for AWS Partners in the AWS AI Competency (formerly AWS Generative AI Competency): agentic AI applications, agentic AI tools, and agentic AI consulting services.

These categories announced by AWS recognize software and services partners with extensive experience developing and deploying enterprise-grade AI solutions that understand context, reason about goals, and act autonomously with minimal human intervention.

This expansion aligns with growing market momentum as entities developing agentic AI capabilities now position themselves to lead when autonomous systems become standard business practice.

“Our data shows that customers working with AI Competency Partners are deploying solutions 25% faster, which is a clear sign that validated expertise accelerates transformation,” said Ruba Borno, VP Global Specialists and Partners at AWS.

Since launching in 2024, AWS has invested more than $115 million in AWS AI Competency, demonstrating its commitment to accelerating successful customer adoption of AI through specialized partners.

These new categories reflect the rapid advancement of the market and help customers find partners who can take them from experimentation to production-ready autonomous systems.

Agentic AI Applications: Develop autonomous AI solutions that perceive environments, reason about complex objectives, and execute purposeful actions with minimal human intervention. These applications coordinate sophisticated workflows, maintain expanded contextual awareness, and collaborate across multiple platforms, while ensuring compliance with enterprise governance requirements.

Agentic AI tools: create platforms, frameworks and development tools that enable organizations to efficiently build, deploy and manage agentic AI systems. Tools range from low-code solutions that accelerate development to sophisticated custom implementations that support diverse regulatory environments and business requirements.

Agentic AI Consulting Services: They provide strategic guidance, implementation expertise, and ongoing support for agentic AI initiatives, helping organizations manage implementation complexity while ensuring business alignment, governance requirements, and sustainable competitive advantages.

AWS AI Competency Partners deploy production-grade standalone AI systems, from low-code solutions using Amazon Quick Suite, to custom deployments with Strands Agents and Amazon Bedrock AgentCore.

These partners are also pioneers in responsible AI development, implementing frameworks that address fairness, privacy, and security, while ensuring strong governance and ongoing oversight that aligns with organizational goals.

New AWS Transform Agentic Capabilities

The customizability of AWS Transform enables rapid, large-scale modernizations for all legacy systems across any software, code, library, and framework.

AWS is introducing new agentic capabilities in AWS Transform to streamline code and application updates across the organization, regardless of code, API, framework, runtime, architecture, language, and even enterprise-specific programming languages and frameworks.

With predefined transformations for common patterns (for example, Java, Node.js, and Python updates) and custom transformations for specific tasks in your organization, a specialized agent executes consistent, repeatable, high-quality transformations.

For the average organization, custom AWS Transform can scale modernization to hundreds or thousands of applications, achieving transformation up to five times faster than doing it manually. The transformation agent automatically collects feedback and continues to improve over time, making each subsequent transformation more reliable and efficient.

Speed up Windows modernization

Customers need to upgrade all of their Windows environments to reduce high licensing costs and improve security and performance. In this way, the announcement of AWS Transform now offers up to five times the speed in the complete modernization of Windows, including .NET applications, SQL Server, user interface (UI) frameworks and deployment layers in open source and cloud-native solutions.

Improvements in AWS Transform for mainframe and VMware

Leveraging nearly two decades of experience helping organizations modernize, the company is enhancing AWS Transform in other areas as well.

New capabilities in AWS Transform for mainframe modernization that save time, reduce risk and simplify migration. Three new agents build on the code analysis, business rule extraction, and technical documentation capabilities already available in AWS Transform.

Agents help produce activity analysis to facilitate modernization and retirement decisions, blueprints for reimagining legacy code into clear business functions, capabilities, data flows and usage, and simplified domain decomposition.

New capabilities in AWS Transform for VMware that simplify and accelerate large-scale network discovery, planning, and migration. This includes an agent experience for iteration and migration flexibility, which customizes and coordinates the entire process from assessment to deployment, as well as a new local discovery tool with support for security reviews and inventory discovery.

A new migration planning agent applies business context using unstructured inputs (for example, documents, files, chats, and business rules). Finally, the enhanced capabilities of Network Migration Agents support advanced configurations and security technologies from Cisco ACI, Fortigate, and Palo Alto Networks.

New AWS Transform Composability Initiative which allows our partners to integrate their proprietary tools, agents, and knowledge bases to create customized workflows for customers within the AWS Transform product experience.

Accenture, Capgemini, and Pegasystems are the first AWS partners to create new agents for AWS Transform that deliver more powerful and contextually relevant transformations for customers in industries such as financial services and healthcare.
