Find out how to apply for an energy voucher and take advantage of one-time financial support to cover electricity bills. Check who can receive up to PLN 1,200 and how to quickly apply online.
The rising cost of electricity is a challenge for many Polish households. In response to these problems, the government has introduced a financial support program – the energy voucher. Will it solve the problem? Of course not. But if there is an option to receive support, why not take advantage of it? This benefit is intended to relieve household budgets by providing one-off financial assistance in paying energy bills. In this article, you will learn who can benefit from an energy voucher, how to apply, and what to pay special attention to during the application process.
Energy voucher – what is it and why is it worth fighting for?
The program is aimed at households that meet the income criteria. They are as follows:
- For single-person households – the maximum monthly income cannot exceed PLN 2,500 net.
- For multi-person households – the average monthly income per person cannot exceed PLN 1,700 net.
Importantly, even if you exceed these limits, you can still apply for a voucher. The so-called “zloty for zloty” rule applies here. This means that the value of the voucher will be reduced by the amount by which you exceed the income threshold. The minimum amount of the voucher is PLN 20, which means that even if you exceed the threshold by a small amount, you can still receive support.
How much is an energy voucher?
The amount of the benefit depends on the number of people in the household. It looks like this:
- PLN 300 – for single-person households,
- PLN 400 – for households of 2-3 people,
- PLN 500 – for households of 4-5 people,
- PLN 600 – for households of 6 or more people.
But that’s not all. If your household uses an electric heating source, the amount of the voucher will be doubled if the device has been reported to the Central Emission Register of Buildings (CEEB). Then you can receive the following support:
- PLN 600 – for single-person households,
- PLN 800 – for households of 2-3 people,
- PLN 1,000 – for households of 4-5 people,
- PLN 1,200 – for households of 6 or more people.
The condition for receiving the double amount is to report the heating source to CEEB no later than 1 April 2024 (for existing devices). If you are installing a new device, you must report it immediately after it is put into operation.
How to apply for an energy voucher?
Applications can be submitted between August 1 and September 30, 2024. There are several ways to do so, both online and in-person.
Application submission options
- mObywatel application – this is the fastest and most convenient method, allowing for automatic completion of some data.
- Portal gov.pl – submitting an application via the website requires a trusted profile.
- ePUAP platform – enables submitting applications online without the need for personal contact with offices.
- Stationary at the municipal office – for those who prefer traditional methods, it is possible to submit an application in person at the local office.
How to submit an application in the mObywatel application?
- Download the mObywatel app to your phone if you don’t have it yet.
- Log in using your trusted profile.
- On the home screen, select the “Energy voucher” option. If you don’t see this option, go to the “All services” tab and find the appropriate function there.
- Check the correctness of the data automatically completed by the application.

The app itself downloads your data from the register, which means you don’t have to enter it manually, which minimizes the risk of making a mistake. It’s also the fastest way to get a voucher, because you don’t have to leave your home or visit the office.
How to submit an application via the gov.pl portal?

After submitting your application, you can track its status on an ongoing basis. The decision to grant an energy voucher will be sent to your email address or you will find it after logging into your account on the gov.pl portal.
