Seniorit 2000 is an association of recent Constitution, which is born with the objective of strengthening the links and the projection of senior professionals of the ICT sector, making visible their contribution of value and talent.

Through its initiatives – Consultancy, Training, Mentoring, Disclosure, Events and Support for the Professional in Transition – it intends to multiply the opportunities for participation in strategic projects to promote the digital transformation of our society, through its business fabric and public administrations.

As a starting point, next October 23 They organize a very special event in Madrid: a face -to -face meeting between associates, with space for reunion, conversation, a cocktail and a concert. It will be the perfect occasion to consolidate the implementation of the community and continue drawing together the path of experience with experience.

In this interview with its president we reveal the keys to a community committed to a generation that was the protagonist of technological change in 2000.

What circumstances led to the creation of this association and how important is the reunion between active professionals in 2000?

The association was born as a reunion initiative among those who shared a key moment in technological history: the beginning of the millennium and the digital explosion of the year 2000. Many of the members, belonging to a generation that marked the transition from the analog to digital society, participated in crucial projects of adaptation, modernization and growth of the sector. We wanted to recover the professional and human bond of that generation IT.

What is the role of the association as a representative of the economic, social and cultural interests of its members?

We act as a speaker and as an umbrella. We represent our members before companies, institutions and media such as Byte TI, giving visibility to the value they contribute from professional maturity.

We defend their labor rights and encourage active reintegration in the market, relying on processes of exit, relocation, conversion or exploration of the freelance path and promote the cultural recognition of the senior profile as a strategic actor in the current technological ecosystem. Thinking so much those that are close to retirement, and those who have already taken that step. And why not also, accommodating selfless collaborations.

We intend to carry out communication campaigns, have a presence in key events, collaborate with media and forge strategic alliances with professional networks to achieve these objectives.

What next challenges and opportunities do you see for senior professionals in the IT sector? What is the role that the association aspires in that future?

The great challenge is to reposition senior talent as an essential active in the digital world. Opportunities are at project work, leadership in hybrid environments and mentoring in young ecosystems. The association aspires to be bridge, guide and engine: connecting to know with innovation, experience with impact.

What are the most common prejudices faced by professionals over 50 in technology?

They are associated with lack of adaptation, obsolescence or resistance to change. But reality shows the opposite: many senior professionals are adaptable, visionaries and are more updated than what prejudice presumes. Because in essence, we are talking about a generation that formed in a constant change environment.

How does the association help counteract ageism in the ICT sector?

Giving visibility to success cases, promoting senior talent in media and events, generating collaborative spaces and negotiating with companies to integrate senior profiles into key projects. The change begins when we stop looking at age and began to value the contribution.

What kind of consulting or advice projects promotes the association? How do members get involved?

The idea is that our members are involved as consultants, advisors, mentors or auditors, both individually and in multidisciplinary teams participating in technological, strategic and organizational projects with entities that seek applied experience.

What will distinguish us without a doubt is the solvency, credibility and real knowledge of our members – attributes that many companies and institutions will assess as a quality guarantee.

We will also establish agreements with other organizations to add capabilities and expand the scope of our network. These collaborations will allow us to add resources, facilitate access to projects, expand the contact ecosystem and strengthen the value proposition for our associates.

What kind of events organizes the association and how often meetings are held between members?

We will start next month with our first meeting and official presentation, which will take place on October 23 in Madrid. Meeting, concert and cocktail, all in one, and we will have a relevant institutional presence that has already confirmed its assistance.

From there, many possibilities open to disseminate and value senior talent.

What message would you give to those who doubt whether to join or think that they no longer have a place in the sector?

That are not alone, that their experience matters, and that can still lead changes, build solutions and leave their mark. Joining Seniorit 2000 not only connects them with other professionals, but it reaffirms that talent has no expiration date.

Your senior readers transferred a clear message: if you already were an active part of our sector in 2000, do not hesitate to join Seniorit 2000 and see you on October 23!

And in the meantime, they join our group on LinkedIn, which is currently our communication vehicle with all those interested in our activities.
