With more than three decades of experience in the technological sector, Pedro Redondo Ballesteros joins Kyocera Document Solutions Spain as director of the Business Solutions area. From this strategic position, it will lead the development of advanced technological solutions with the objective of promoting efficiency, security and sustainability in organizations. We talk to him about his vision of the sector, the challenges of digital transformation and kyocera role as a technological partner of reference.

Pedro, what does this new professional challenge within Kyocera suppose for you?

First, I am very grateful to be part of a company such as Kyocera, Japanese multinational with more than 77,000 employees and income of 2 billion yen (approximately 14,000 million US dollars) and where its solid career and focus on technological innovation are key aspects. This new professional challenge supposes for me an opportunity to actively contribute at a strategic moment, in which Kyocera is promoting its solutions and business services within a ICT market in which we are more relevant every day.

I incorporated with great enthusiasm and a high level of commitment. My main objective is to contribute my experience and knowledge of the sector to accelerate the value contribution of our business solutions to our clients, and help them in their digital transformation processes. We are in a context where organizations need to adapt quickly to an increasingly demanding competitive environment, supported by new technologies, and that is where our Business Solutions proposal takes on special relevance.

In addition, being part of the Management Committee allows me to have a cross vision of the company and work in a aligned way with other areas to promote internal synergies and reinforce our market positioning.

You come from a long career in technology, telecommunications and consulting companies. What key learning do you bring with you to Kyocera?

Throughout my career I have been lucky enough to collaborate with large teams and manage complex projects in very varied sectors. That has given me a very rich vision of the market, the expectations of the client and how technology can – and must – adapt to specific contexts.

One of the most valuable learning that I take is that, technology is a medium – but yes, fundamental today – to achieve business strategic objectives such as the increase in competitiveness and greater efficiency. Solutions should not be sold for their technical sophistication, but for their real impact: how they help a business to be more efficient, more competitive or sustainable. I have also learned that the key to success is in teamwork and in the ability to listen, understand and accompany customers in their own change processes.

I think that experience will allow me to contribute a practical and client oriented perspective, in addition to a strategic mentality that fits with the evolution that Kyocera is promoting.

What is the current focus of Kyocera in Spain from the technological point of view?

Kyocera is evolving in a determined way towards a more comprehensive model, where documentary technology remains a solid base, but is complemented by a growing portfolio of solutions in the ICT field and business solutions.

Today, our focus pivota around four axes: digital experience, modernization of the job and infrastructure, processes and cybersecurity optimization. From the Business Solutions area we are working on offering solutions that help companies automate their processes, manage their information safely, improve digital experience, and do all this in a respectful way with the environment. Our goal is to accompany our clients on their digital trip, with flexible, scalable and aligned proposals with their real needs.

From a technical perspective, what key challenges identifies to lead the Business Solutions unit?

The main challenge is to integrate heterogeneous technologies into a coherent and customer -oriented ecosystem. Currently, organizations need solutions that not only digitalize their processes, but also optimize information management through scalable platforms and with high safety standards, responding to the concrete business needs of our clients.

In Kyocera, our Business Solutions unit works with technologies and solutions in the field of ECM (content management), cloud hybrid solutions, modernization of applications, architectures and infrastructure, process robotization (RPA), guidance to advanced data and analytics, and improvement of digital experience. All using integrated cybersecurity services and practical artificial intelligence (AI) solutions. The challenge is to design flexible solution architectures that allow companies to evolve optimizing their investments and minimizing risks.

The combination of advanced and sustainable technologies, respect for regulatory compliance and governance, and its application to specific business solutions, are key to offering a differential and reliable proposal.

On that path to diversification, what are the strategic priorities of your unit?

Our main priority is to position ourselves as the reference technological partner for organizations that seek to evolve in their operational and technological model. This implies, first of all, to listen actively: to understand what our clients need, what worries them, at what point they are of their transformation process.

From that active listening, we want to build solutions that provide tangible value, not only in technical terms, but on impact on the business. We seek efficiency, but also simplicity, usability, integration and scalability, and ultimately, a better digital experience.

We are also working intensely to reinforce our strategic alliances with software manufacturers and technological platforms, as well as with specialized partners. This allows us to expand our ecosystem and offer more complete solutions.

And of course, a key priority is internal talent. The knowledge and motivation of the teams are fundamental to execute this strategy. That is why we are promoting a culture of transverse collaboration, teamwork and continuous development.

What role do sustainability and cybersecurity play in this new stage?

They are two absolutely inalienable strategic pillars. Sustainability is part of the Kyocera DNA globally for decades, but today acquires an even more critical dimension. It is not just about reducing environmental footprint, but about rethinking how we design our solutions, how we optimize resources and how we help our clients do the same. Our goal is that technology is not only efficient, but also responsible.

On the other hand, cybersecurity has become an indispensable requirement in any technological proposal. Technological solutions today cannot be conceived without a robust security architecture. We are integrating cybersecurity as a native element of our solutions, both in infrastructure and software, to ensure that digitalization does not imply unnecessary risks.

The key is to offer solutions that combine innovation, sustainability and safety in a natural way, without friction for the user.

Finally, how would you like Kyocera to be perceived in the technological market in the coming years?

I would like it to be perceived as a close, innovative, agile and committed company. A company that really understands the challenges of organizations, which is there to help them achieve their objectives, not only to sell products. We want to be that technological partner that provides useful solutions, which adapts, that listens and evolves with its customers.

In addition, we also want to be recognized by our internal culture: a culture based on respect, collaborative work and value orientation. Because when you have a motivated, committed and aligned team with a clear purpose, the impact out is much more powerful.

In short, we seek to grow, but do it sustainably, responsible and generating positive impact. That is the vision that I would like to convey from my new role in Kyocera.
