Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming the field of data analytics, revolutionizing the way companies extract value from information. This change has led to a reconfiguration of traditional roles, highlighting the importance of skills such as business understanding, effective communication and the ability to translate insights into concrete actions.

These are some of the conclusions of the debate table “The new era of data analytics with the generative AI”, organized by The Valley Business & Tech School. The meeting was moderated by David Rey, director of the Master in Data Science AI & Big Data Analytics of The Valley and Chief Data Officer in Idealista, and was attended by Ubaldo González Benítez, Chief Data Officer in Mapfre and Noelia Álvarez, AI Service Delivery Lead & Data Scientist of Santalucía Seguros.

The irruption of AI has redefined the necessary skills in the field of data analytics. While technical knowledge remains fundamental, soft skills and business understanding have become equally crucial. Noelia Álvarez, AI Service Delivery Lead & Data Scientist of Santalucía Seguros, emphasizes that it is not enough to program or build Machine Learning models, “it is essential to interpret the needs of the business and translate them into technical solutions that provide tangible results.”

For his part, Ubaldo González Benítez, Chief Data Officer in Mapfre, warns about the risks of blindly trusting technology without understanding the foundations, comparing it to give a formula 1 to someone who has never led.

Data analytics promoted by AI

IA has allowed automating repetitive and complex tasks, releasing resources for more strategic areas. According to Ubaldo González, before analysts dedicated about 80% of their time to tasks such as data collection and cleaning, leaving only 20% for the search for strategic insights. Today, with AI, this balance has changed dramatically, positively impacting productivity and business efficiency. Noelia Álvarez defines AI as a “co -pilot” that enhances the abilities of analysts, allowing them to concentrate on key decisions and maximize the value of their work.

The integration of AI in organizations raises significant challenges in terms of training, change management and organizational adaptation. One of the biggest challenges is the initial resistance of employees, based on the fear of losing their jobs. Noelia Álvarez emphasizes the importance of training and showing practical examples to overcome the fear of the unknown. Ubaldo González emphasizes that change management must be led from senior management, with transparency and clear objectives, showing success cases and establishing small milestones to generate confidence in technology.

Experts agree that AI will not replace people, but will enhance their abilities. The combination of human and machine will be the workflow of the future. Noelia Álvarez states that AI enriches human work, while Ubaldo González reflects on the long -term potential of technology, highlighting that the rhythm of evolution is so fast that the horizon is full of new possibilities.

The Valley role in digital transformation

In this context, The Valley Business & Tech School is playing a crucial role in the formation of experts in data analytics and artificial intelligence. His Master in Data Science, AI & Big Data Analytics combines a solid technical training with a strategic and business approach. Students learn to dominate data processing and visualization tools, develop advanced predictive models and design solutions based on real business problems.

A key aspect of the program is its focus on the practical application of knowledge, using real cases and business projects as part of learning. Students work on projects supervised by professionals in the sector, integrating theory and practice effectively and developing essential skills such as communication and business understanding. In addition, the master’s degree is designed for diverse profiles, from professionals with data areas to people from other sectors who wish to reorient their career towards the world of Big Data and artificial intelligence.
