Zyxel Networks has launched a new Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) extender designed to solve the challenges of deploying networks over long distances and in power-constrained areas.

Adaptable for indoor or outdoor use, the PoE12-3PD is a cloud-managed device that optimizes network flexibility for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) and managed service providers (MSPs), enabling extended connectivity across large spaces, historic buildings, or areas without sufficient power points.

“The PoE12-3PD is a reflection of our commitment to addressing the real connectivity issues our customers face,” says Gonzalo Echeverría, Country Manager of Zyxel Iberia. He explains that many small businesses, when expanding, encounter difficulties with connectivity in their new locations, but this new extender offers a simple and effective solution for installing networks in complex environments.

Unlike conventional PoE switches, which are limited to 100 meters of cable, the PoE12-3PD extends network coverage cost-effectively and efficiently, facilitating connectivity indoors and outdoors. Additionally, its plug-and-play configuration allows for both power and data delivery through three PoE+ ports, connecting devices such as IP cameras and IoT sensors in hard-to-reach areas.

Users can monitor their network through Zyxel Networks’ Nebula Cloud platform, managing the entire infrastructure from a single dashboard accessible via the web or mobile app. The device also features continuous PoE functionality, which minimizes service interruptions during upgrades or power cycles.

Featuring a rugged design, the PoE12-3PD is rated to withstand extreme temperatures, from -20°C to 50°C, and can be mounted on walls or poles. It includes surge protection and an IP55 housing, and comes in plastic-free packaging, reflecting Zyxel’s commitment to sustainability.
