As organizations increasingly incorporate artificial intelligence (AI) into their operations, risk professionals face the challenge of becoming certified and balancing its transformative potential with rigorous management of new vulnerabilities, threats and emerging risks. In this context, ISACA has presented the new Advanced in AI Risk (AAIR) certification, aimed at strengthening specialized capabilities in this area.

The AAIR certification validates candidates’ ability to assess AI-related vulnerabilities, analyze opportunities and impacts, and comprehensively manage the risk lifecycle. This certification is structured into three key areas: AI risk governance and framework integration; risk management throughout the AI lifecycle; and the management of specific risk programs associated with these technologies.

Those who obtain this certification acquire the necessary training to recommend effective responses to risks derived from AI, as well as to collaborate between different departments and ensure comprehensive supervision. Additionally, the certification provides in-depth knowledge of AI technologies and the challenges associated with their adoption.

“AI is advancing faster than many organizations are prepared for, and IT risk professionals are on the front lines,” said Erik Prusch, CEO of ISACA. “The launch of this certification provides professionals with the practical skills they need to understand, evaluate and manage AI risk,” he adds.

Prerequisites and resources

This certification is designed to hone and strengthen risk management expertise, empowering IT professionals to meet the challenges arising from AI adoption. To access this certification, candidates must demonstrate experience in risk or technology consulting functions, in addition to having a previous certification among the 25 recognized by ISACA.

Among the prerequisite certifications are CISA, CISM, CRISC, CGEIT, CDPSE, as well as others such as CISSP, in addition to passing the corresponding certification exam.

Those who wish to obtain the AAIR certification have various support resources available, such as the online review course, question databases and official materials, all designed to facilitate certification preparation.

Promotion of training in digital trust

In line with its commitment to professional development, ISACA has expanded its AI training offering with new courses and resources, as well as with two new certifications: Advanced in AI Audit (AAIA) and Advanced in AI Security Management (AAISM), reinforcing its specialized certification catalog.

“For decades, ISACA has been a benchmark in certification and training for digital trust professionals,” says Shannon Donahue, Director of Content and Publications at ISACA. “In an environment where continuous learning is essential, our AI certification offering will enable professionals to drive responsible innovation in their organizations.”
