YouTube’s CEO Susan Wojcicki is going to step down from the position after nine years, she mentioned in a blog post. She also mentioned that Neal Mohan, Chief Product Officer, of YouTube will become the new leader for YouTube.
The new CEO, Mohan, a Stanford graduated from Stanford and joined Google in 2008. His work at YouTube as a Chief Product Officer focused mostly on building YouTube Shorts and Music. He has worked with Microsoft, Stitch Fix, and 23and Me prior to joining Google.
54-year-old Wojcicki said she will be focusing on “family, health, and personal projects I’m passionate about.” She worked as a Senior-VP for Ad products at Google and became the CEO of this streaming website in 2014.
She was one of the earliest employees of Alphabet Inc. She has been with Google for nearly 25 years. Before that, she worked at Intel Corporation and Bain & Company.
The new focus of YouTube is on viewing time like popular short-form video app TikTok and streaming services like Netflix.
A news to shock is that the change in the shares of Alphabet Inc. after the news is very low which is not even more than 1%.
